Sorrento Bay & Elite Swims

The Sorrento 1.2km Bay Swim and the Elite 4km Swims are on again and form part of the Great Victorian Swim Series.

The 2017 event will be the 14th year of the Bay Swim, which each year has gone from strength to strength. Last year there was close to 600 swimmers, including a large number of the Sorrento Surf Club Nippers entering their first open water swim.

This event was established as a major fundraising activity for the Sorrento Surf Club by providing a safe, well managed swim held after New Year’s Eve for competitors to enjoy. The Swim showcases the historic Sorrento shopping precinct and surroundings and is a drawcard for people looking for a great day out.

Sorrento and its beaches are one of the major tourist destinations in Victoria. The Surf Life Saving Club provides a well patrolled beach environment for visitors to Sorrento back beach. This Bay-swim event assists Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club with its endeavors to keep our beach safe and provide the youth of the area with a Surf Awareness program to learn surf safety through our excellent Nipper program.
